I was not going to do all of the kitchen cabinet doors and drawers are once. I decided to divide this project into several phases. I had a good process of making the door frames. So, If I wanted to, I could make all the door frames and remove the old cabinet doors to make the door panels. I opted to start small and work on the three cabinet doors above the desk in the dinette and the five drawer fronts on the desk.
I measured the cabinet doors and drawers and put together a drawing of the different sizes and a building of materials. I checked what supplies I had at home such as the Kreg® screws and plugs and sandpaper. With my list, I went to the home improvement store to get all the needed wood, sandpaper and, finally, a new blade for the miter saw. After getting home, I discovered that I did not get the molding that holds the door panels in place. I would need to return to the store to pick the molding up. Efiwym and I discussed once again what color and type of hardware for the kitchen cabinets. First, we were going to install satin nickel handles. Then I changed my mind. I like the oiled bronze look. The handles would fit well with the oak stain finish. However, we had the satin nickel in the bathrooms and laundry room and the hardware looked fine. Next Efiwym thought we should use just pulls, not handles, for the doors. The one thing we agreed on was I was going to replace all the cabinet hinges and not paint the old ones. I could not buy the hinges until we decided on the hardware color. Nonetheless, we would need to go to the home improvement store soon and make a decision. I will start on the doors right away
