My next cabinet doors were in the powder room. The vanity was the same size as the one in the master bathroom. While I only had 2 doors and a sink panel, I still had a few blunders.
First, I tried to sharpen my carbide router bit with a whetstone. Believing that the router bit was now sharp, I tore up my first door frame as I made my first pass. Unfortunately, I did not have extra wood to replace the stile. I also would need to buy a new router bit.
Before I left to go to the home improvement store, I did some research on sharpening router bits. I realized that I needed a diamond stone, not a whetstone to sharpen a carbide router bit. Nonetheless I would still buy another bit and address the bit sharpening issue later.
I returned from the store with more wood, a router bit, and a diamond stone. I would use the new bit to finish up on the doors.
When it came time for finishing, I mistakenly started sanding the front side, or now the back side of the new door panel. At the start of this project, I decided to save time by not refinishing this side of the door. No one would see it unless someone opened the door and examined the back very closely. Still, I would show off the back of the door anyways. I liked the look of the Kreg® wood plugs. Also, I could show people how “sustainable” I was by reusing the doors. I could hear the accolades now. “That Dominic is so resourceful.”
I topped it off when I cross-threaded a screw in the door handle. How could I be so dumb to try to force the screw. Apparently, I did not have the holes drilled exactly 3 inches apart. And now I did not have a replacement handle. I used up all 10 handles from the package. Efiwmy and I had not decided on the hardware for the laundry room yet. I did not want to buy a 10 pack of handles and have 4 extras. So back to the home improvement store again to buy two satin nickel handles. Fortunately, they were inexpensive and looked similar to the other ones. While I was there, I purchased more wood for the laundry room doors, (but no door handles for those doors).
The laundry room doors were next.
