DIY Project – Master Bathroom – Shower Renovation – Near the End

We were now using the shower.  I needed to complete the reno of the master bathroom.

The baseboards around the shower were put back in place.  I caulked between the floor and the shower.

I replaced the plastic laminate vanity countertop with a one-piece cultured marble vanity top.  I also replaced the faucet with a brushed nickel faucet.  Along with the vanity upgrade, I replaced the 2-bulb bathroom light with a 4-bulb light.

The light in the shower was removed in the reno.  With the removal of the drop ceiling, Efiwym, my wife, and I decided to not replace the light.  I would replace the ceiling fan with a fan-light combo unit later.  That project needed to wait as I still had a problem working on things above my head.

After a couple of weeks, I painted the master bathroom.  I gave the whole ceiling a coat of white paint.  I followed it up by painting the walls a gray color.  I added a line of caulk to the shower walls.  The unevenness of the drywall was revealed.  After the caulk was dry, I covered the caulk with a coat a paint which provided a straight line along the walls.

With the painting done, I finally had the chance to step back and admire my work.  That Zen moment.  It was not long, as my eyes went to the raised joint line in the ceiling.  Ugh.
