DIY Project – Master Bathroom – Shower Renovation – Finally

I am not sure if I had a renewed energy in DIY, I had more time or we had money to spend, but Efiwym, my wife, and I finally decided to renovate the master bathroom.  To be honest, I was a little nervous.  This was a real renovation with plumbing.

We shopped online and in stores.  We visited home improvement stores multiple times to check out shower enclosures.  We decided that there would be no tiling, hence no grout lines.  We preferred large panels with few joints.  These enclosures would be easier to clean and there was less chances for leaks.  We found an enclosure that consisted of 3 walls and a base.  The assembly appeared easy. The faux tile finish was subtle but looked great.

We also looked at shower doors.  We decided to spend a little more money on a door.  There was a shower door from the same manufacturer of the shower enclosure.  I wanted to consider a swinging door, but I believed I did not have the clearance to clear the toilet.  So, we just went with a sliding door.  Even though I checked out the doors in person, I did not notice that there was one fixed panel and one sliding panel.  The manufacturer suggested to have the sliding door on the faucet side so you could turn on the water.  Good idea if only the toilet was not in the way.  Our old doors were both sliding so we could turn on the shower on one end and walk into it from the other end.

After a sale of the shower enclosure showed up in the Sunday flyer, we decided to purchase it.  Efiwym and I went to the store and ordered it.  With their credit card, we would buy it interest free for six months. For future DIY projects, we would finance them using this method. We now waited for the delivery…
