My wife. Efiwym, and I decided that buying a riding lawn mower (for me) was a priority over new kitchen countertops. However, I knew this was, “The gift that keeps on giving the whole year,” as Cousin Eddy said in the movie, Christmas Vacation, for Clark’s Jelly of the Month Club Christmas bonus.
I first needed to install another GFCI outlet in the garage, (which I always wanted to do). Next was the problem of storage. This riding mower was 5-feet long, 30-inches wide and 48 inches tall. With two snowblowers, a power washer and a push mower, I needed to find a place to store the new mower for the winter. I originally thought about buying a storage shed, (which I really wanted to do), but like always, I did not want to spend more money.
Every fall before the first snowflakes fall, I switch out the snowblowers with the push lawn mower. That switch consists of moving the lawn mower under the garage corner shelf and moving out the snowblowers, so they are more accessible.
Okay, you all are wondering, why I have two snowblowers. I purchased a 2-stage snow thrower last year. The reason I purchased it was that this machine was lighter than the snowblower. Efiwym could easily use it, (if she wanted to). Second, I read, that a 2-stage snow thrower can move that wet, heavy snow better than a 3-stage snowblower. The verdict is still out on that. The 3-stage snowblower does a better job plowing through high snow drifts. So, let me get to the point of this blog…
The riding mower could be put in the corner that has the shelf, but the shelf is too low.
My solution was to move up the shelf. (Duh!) Time to work on this project.
